Background information
Organized by the JazzNL Foundation in collaboration with partner organizations in the hosting countries, the Dutch Jazz Expedition will be conducted outside the Netherlands. In larger countries bearing larger populations the project may be held concurrently at diverse regions.Project schedule
Day 1 - Arrival; Public Relations and Press-Oriented activities, i.e. photo shoots, press conference(s), interviews, etc.
Day 2 - Daytime: workshops, master classes, by the Dutch musicians and lectures, in separate rooms. Preparations for evening performances, public relations activities.
- 12.00-15.00 hrs (noon – 3pm)
Dutch Jazz network fair: networking event for Dutch jazz music professionals and their host-country counterparts as well as the musicians featured in the project. Includes Speed Dates. - 20.00 (8 p.m.)
concert: Blend Band concert by six Dutch and six host country musicians per region, followed by a jam session
Day 3 - Daytime: rehearsals, sound checks, public relations activities
- 20.00 hrs (8 pm)
concert: Dutch Jazz Night by Dream Team: fifteen Dutch musicians perform mostly original Dutch Jazz together in different formations and styles.
Organization: tasks, responsibilities and finances
JazzNL
- organizes and finances all preparations in the Netherlands
- is responsible for costs of and conducting of communications from and in the Netherlands
- will provide international travel for the fifteen jazz musicians plus two crew members, one technical and one logistic.
- will assist with organization and coordination of international travel for all Dutch Jazz music industry professionals.
Foreign Partnering Organization(s)
- organizes and finances all preparations in their region in the hosting country
- communications from and in the hosting country
- Handles venue reservation, local travel and logistics, technical requirements: P.A., backline and instrument rental, overnight and food for the 15 Dutch jazz musicians and 2 crew persons, local PR.
- is also responsible for selection of local musicians for the blend concert, invitations to the music business professionals in their country/ designated area, and generating an audience.
