Dutch Jazz Expedition Spain
In November 2011 several Dutch jazzgroups performed in Madrid. There were concerts by the Rembrandt Frerichs Trio, Susanne Alt, Jasper Somsen, Simin Tander and the Felix Schlarmann Group. These shows were part of the Dutch Jazz Expedition to Spain. These artists were chosen by Spanish jazz professionals at the Jazzdag in Rotterdam.
On Saturday afternoon a conference was held as well. Delegates of Buma Cultuur, Sena, Foundation JazzNL, North Sea Jazz and the Federation of Dutch Jazz Festivals had a discussion with jazz professionals from Spain. The central theme was 'How to finance jazzfestivals by creating value for others'. Topics which were discussed are among others the improvement of quality in festivals, talent development and cultural exchange. Besides this there was a network meeting in which jazz artists and professionals have met each other.
Fridaynight the Rembrandt Frerichs Trio and Susanne Alt performed in the auditorium of the Fundacion Carlos Amberes. Saturdaynight Jasper Somsen, Simin Tander and the Felix Schlarmann Group played in the Nuevo Auditorio Conde Duque. The concerts were part of the XXVIII Festival De Jazz De Madrid.
